VA Home Loan Mortgage Rates October 21 – Current Rates Up Today

Posted on | October 21, 2009 | 1 Comment

VA home loan mortgage rates for October 21st, 2009 were up early on.  Current conventional mortgage rates are up across the board today.  The conventional 30 year fixed mortgage rate is up to 4.83% while the 15 year fixed is up to 4.3%.  The conventional 5/1 ARM is also up to 3.78%.  VA home loan mortgage rates are generally around .5% to 1% lower than conventional mortgage rates so you can see that getting a VA mortgage rate could save you a great amount of money.

Mortgage rates have been quite volatile this morning and that is likely to continue as President Obama has introduced a new mortgage plan to help keep mortgage interest rates low.  The plan is also designed to help low to middle income families buy a home.  The specifics of the plan are not out yet but the objective is to reduce foreclosures and help those in need of mortgage assistance.

Mortgage rates are getting very close to all time lows as the government continues to work very hard to keep interest rates down.  Every time mortgage interest rates start to tick up there is an announcement by Federal Reserve Bank chairman Ben Bernanke or the president himself.  It is going to get very interesting when the market actually sets interest rates but in the meantime take advantage of these current low mortgage rates.
