VA Home Loan Mortgage Rates October 5 – 30 Year Stable

Posted on | October 5, 2009 | No Comments

VA home loan mortgage rates for October 5th, 2009 are quite stable as the conventional 30 year fixed mortgage rates is little changed at 4.91%.  This means that the 30 year VA home loan rate will be around 3.91% as VA home loan rates are often quoted as one full percentage point lower than conventional mortgage rates.  It is a little bit surprising that mortgage interest rates have not been a little more volatile today.

Treasury rates have moved very little as well which could be a huge reason as to why mortgage rates have not seen much movement.  It looks as if the 10 year treasury rate yield continues to hold above the 200 day moving average.  At some point in the next few weeks this level of support is going to come in to play.  It will either hold as a strong support and we will see a short term rally for yields or it will break through to the downside and we will see much lower mortgage rates.

Personally I feel that the 200 day moving average is going to hold and we are going to see a short term rally in treasury yields.  This is likely to bring mortgage interest rates back up to the 5% level or higher.  What will be interesting to see is if yields can start a long term rally which would mean higher mortgage interest rates across the board for quite some time; only time will tell.
