Unemployment Benefits Extension – Will It Help You Buy Gifts on Black Friday?
Posted on | November 25, 2009 | 9 Comments
The unemployment benefits extension has been passed and will help many Americans who are currently out of work. Many of these Americans are looking for a way to brighten up their family’s Christmas and there are some amazing deals on Black Friday. Obviously your first use of unemployment benefits is not to buy gifts but it can definitely help in the long run.
With that in mind, are you going to use any of the unemployment benefits you receive to purchase gifts on Black Friday? If you are currently unemployed it is likely that you are going to scale back greatly this year when it comes to Holiday gifts. Just how much are you going to scale back and how are you going to attempt to explain this to your family?
Holiday gifts are a privilege and not a necessity but sometimes that is very hard to explain to children. If you do plan on buy holiday gifts with the little money you have it could very well sink you further in debt. Many bad credit Americans are actually seeking loans for Black Friday and these loans could end up costing them well into 2010. Overall, what are your plans for Black Friday if you are unemployed?

cant help us on black friday when you can’t get an answer as to when we will receive our checks. Massachusetts hasn’t sent any of these checks yet. forget black friday sales, how about food on the table for thanksgiving?

The unemployment extension will not add a single penny to the sales on Black Friday. States haven’t even begun to disburse those funds yet. Some will start next week, while others won’t be starting for several weeks after that.
That’s what happens when an extension gets passed 3 months later than it needed to be done – the people, and the economy, suffer.

How can I even think about after Thanksgiving sales right now! I have lost my job, home, car, and credit.Even if I did get a check before Christmas my son wouldn’t get a gift because we are too far in debt. His gift would be food in his belly. He’s the ONLY thing I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving.

the extension is indeed not sufficient to cover many debts of unemployed people. in spite of this, it’s something definitely worth to have while seeking a better, more stable job. if it will help one buy gifts for thanksgiving, it really depends..

Gifts? I don’t think so. How about medical bills, mortgage, food on the table etc.
