With interest rates continuing to dip towards all-time lows it comes as little surprise to see many Americans looking to go into the loan process. Before doing so I may be a very wise choice to access the free annual credit report online that includes a credit history analysis from the bureaus of Experian, Equifax and Transunion.

It is very important to note that the federal government and FTC only support one website when it comes to a free annual credit report – annualcreditreport.com. Any other website that claims to have government approval will be punished by the FTC in the near future as they are coming down very hard on websites that are making specific claims that are not true.

It is always advisable to check your credit report at least once a year as it will likely help individuals better recognize if there are mistakes and errors. By having inaccuracies on a credit history report it could negatively affect your credit score by as much as 100 points making it nearly impossible to walk into the lowest interest rates in August or September of 2011.

With this in mind it is a wise decision to research as much as possible before going into any type of loan or mortgage process. Individuals are looking to refinance a home loan that it may be a very wise choice to confirm that there is no mistakes on credit history report as this could make it very difficult to negotiate lower interest rates and costs and fees.

Taking the time and effort to step back and look at the financial situation is always important when it comes to making money decisions. Unfortunately, many Americans go throughout their entire adult life without recognizing that a credit history report could be making it difficult to get ahead financially.
