With interest rates very close to all time lows a large number of Americans are looking to save money by lower rates on car loans, home loans, credit cards and personal loans. Before doing so some individuals will look for a free government credit score but it is important to realize that at the present time a free government credit score does not exist with the free annual credit report.
The free annual credit report that is supported by the Federal government and FTC is only available at one website – annualcreditreport.com. By accessing this website all American adults are entitled to one free credit report each 365 days. This free annual credit report contains a report from the bureaus of Experian, Equifax and Transunion.
Taking the time and effort to do quite a bit of research on a personal finance situation could prove to be very important when it comes to locking in the lowest interest rates. Remember that only the best borrowers of money will have any opportunity to lock in to the lowest rates in May of 2011.
It is generally the case that customers must need a credit score that is above 740 and a debt to income ratio that is below 40% to have any chance to lock into the very low rates that are currently available. To obtain a credit score it usually costs customers around $15 to $45 but this could be well worth it to put a numerical value on a financial history.
Over the next several weeks it will be very interesting to see what happens with overall interest rates.
