With average 30 year conventional mortgage rates at 4.6% it comes as no surprise to see many Americans looking to compare mortgage interest rates today. When looking for the lowest thirty-year VA, FHA or conventional mortgage rate it is always wise to check the competition and understand which lenders will work best for specific financial situation.

With the advancements in technology and is now the case that it is much easier to do research online when it comes to personal finances. But the HUD website offering many free articles to help Americans understand each and every step of the refinance process there is no reason to pass up this opportunity.

As we get closer and closer to the summer of 2011 many analysts have predicted that interest rates will likely rise as the unemployment rate drops. It is a Catch-22 in that many Americans want the overall economy to get better but they also want to have an opportunity to borrow money at very cheap rates but it is unlikely that both will happen at the same time.

With this in mind it may be a wise decision to do research as soon as possible rather than waiting until the last minute. But doing research online most will find that there are mortgage lenders in the local area that will be willing to offer interest rates below 5% to borrowers with an amazing financial history and a credit score above 720.

Rather than making the assumption that the first interest rate quote is accurate it is always smart to check the competition and completely understand which mortgage lenders will be looking out for the best interest of customers. While most mortgage lenders are very reputable there are some that have struggled to the financial crisis and they’re looking to simply make money rather than working for their customers.
