With many Americans looking to get taxes filed before the end of February 2011 it comes as no surprise to see many of these individuals seeking tax preparation software that is supported by the federal government and the IRS. Three very popular software companies include TurboTax free file, H&R Block and TaxSlayer. All three of these companies have IRS approval and offer a free online tax filing option.
When going through the tax filing process it is always important to read the fine print as many of these companies will offer suggestions through each tax filing step which could end up costing money in the long run. By reading the fine print customers will better understand just how much money they could pay by using some of these services.
The IRS website, IRS.gov, offers a free electronic filing process that will allow individuals to independently file taxes are free of charge. It may be wise to take advantage of this option as IRS.gov will not make suggestions and there will be no costs when filing 2010 income taxes. It is important to remember that this process will be done completely independently and filing taxes can be quite tough.
If an individual has struggled to file taxes in the past that it may be worth it to fork over some extra money to pay an accountant or tax preparation software. It will be well worth in the long run as individuals will know that their taxes are being filed correctly and they could receive a bigger refund check due to the knowledge of these companies or the individual accountant.
Even though we are still in February many Americans are starting to scramble when it comes to getting taxes filed. Rather than waiting until the last minute is always advisable to start research early to make certain that taxes can be mailed or send online by April 15.
