Federal Government Credit Card Debt Relief – New Obama Rules Help Debt Reduction and Debt Settlement Customers

With the overall economy greatly struggling and the unemployment rate still above 9% it is the case that many Americans are looking for help when it comes to high interest rate debt. Some of these individuals will likely seek federal government credit card debt relief plans, programs or services. It is important to note that at the present time there is no such thing as an Obama or government credit card debt relief program.
The Obama administration has done a great amount to help those who have high interest rate debts. The new Obama rules that took effect on October 27, 2010 now force debt relief and debt settlement companies to complete services before any money exchanges hands. This can be very helpful for those who have been scammed out of money in the past.
Customers can now feel as if these companies are looking out for the best interest of the customers rather than just making an extra dollar. The FTC and federal government is working very hard to enforce these laws but it is very important to remember that customers should still complete research and due diligence before creating a relationship with any debt relief or debt reduction company.
Luckily, with the advancements in technology it is now the case customers can do a significant amount of research from the comfort of their own home or office. By simply doing a few Google searches and looking for reviews of companies most customers will be able to better understand which companies will work best for their specific financial situation.
Rather than feeling like debt relief is the last option it is always wise to create a strong weekly or monthly budget and better understand where money is being spent. Unfortunately, a large number of Americans have no clue where their money is going and that is one of the main reasons that they have built up a huge amount of high interest rate revolving debt.
