Does the Mail Service Run on New Years Eve? US Postal Service Open on December 31, 2010

Posted on | December 31, 2010 | No Comments

December 31, 2010, New Years Eve, is not a Federal Postal holiday therefore the mail service will run.  Even though most people are taking off New Years Eve it is still the case that US Postal Service workers will be out and about delivering mail.  If you are looking to go to a post office remember it could be quite busy as it is the last day of they year.

The Federal Postal holidays for 2010 are as follows:
Friday, January 1 – New Year’s Day
Monday, January 18 – Martin Luther King Jr’s Birthday
Monday, February 15 – Washington’s Birthday (President’s Day)
Monday, May 31 – Memorial Day
Monday, July 5 – Independence Day
Monday, September 6 – Labor Day
Monday, October 11 – Columbus Day
Thursday, November 11 – Veterans Day
Thursday, November 25 – Thanksgiving Day
Saturday, December 25 – Christmas Day
Saturday, January 1, 2011 – New Year’s Day

Saturday, January 1, 2011 there will be no mail but Americans will receive mail on December 31st, 2010.  It might be a good idea to head to the Post Office early as many retail locations will start closing earlier in the day which means that highly populated areas are sure to be very busy.  It will be interesting to see just how many people go out on a day that is known for college football bowl games and preparing for a great New Year’s Eve Party.

Some other questions that are sure to be asked on December 31st, 2010 are:

Will I get mail on New Years Eve?

Is mail delivered on New Years Eve?

Will there be mail on New Years Day?

What time does the post office close on New Years Eve?

By doing a little extra research online and calling the post office these questions should be answered quite easily.
