Today’s Lowest Mortgage Interest Rates – Late 2010 Home Loan Bank Rates Drop to 4.65% in December

When looking for today’s lowest mortgage interest rates it is the case that homeowners are finding that the 30 year fixed mortgage rate has dropped to 4.65% when just last week it was at 5.25%. Even though mortgage rates have dropped drastically over the last few days it is still the case that most Americans are more concerned with the Christmas holiday.
It is generally the case that December is a very slow month when it comes to mortgage and refinance applications due to the fact that most Americans are looking to spend time with their loved ones and buy Christmas gifts for children. With this being the case we fully expect to see very little activity when it comes to mortgage or refinance applications at the end of this month.
In 2011 there will be many New Year’s resolutions related to personal finances which in turn should cause mortgage activity to pick up. In January and February is usually true that mortgage and refinance applications are much higher than the month of December as many people are looking at their personal finances and thinking about taxes that will be due.
Taking the time and effort to do research on today’s lowest mortgage interest rates could prove to be greatly beneficial for homeowners looking to save money in the near future. Even if homeowners are not thinking about refinancing in 2010 it is still a wise decision to do a little historical research to understand where rates may go in the near future.
For many Americans, getting through the Christmas holiday could be a struggle when it comes to personal finances due to the economy. With a non-employment rate over 9% and millions of Americans exhausting their unemployment benefits it comes as no surprise to see many hard-working individuals doing everything possible to keep money in their bank accounts.
