Federal Government Credit Card Debt Relief – Obama Rules Now Enforced by FTC for Debt Settlement

With the overall economy greatly struggling in 2010 it comes as very little surprised to see Americans looking for as much financial help as possible. Many of these hard-working Americans have searched for a federal government credit card debt relief program plan or service but it is important to recognize that there is no such thing as an Obama or government debt relief program.


Before making any assumptions in thinking that there are easy ways out when it comes to high interest rate credit card debt is always a wise decision to do research and see what options are available. At the present time the Obama administration has enforced new rules when it comes to debt relief and debt settlement which should help customers but it is still important to do homework.


On October 27, 2010 the Obama administration and FTC started enforcing new rules stating that credit card debt relief for debt settlement companies can no longer charge upfront fees. This can be very helpful to customers as they will know that they are working with a company that has their best interest in mind rather than making a quick dollar.

Even if credit card debt relief for debt settlement seems like the last option available is always important to access the FTC website and see if there are any other options. Rather than paying a debt relief company money it may be the case that customers can create a weekly or monthly budget to help them alleviate a high interest rate debt problem.

By doing a significant amount of research on the financial situation that could greatly improve one’s life in 2010. Rather than assuming that the government or Obama will bail us out it is always a good decision to save as much money as possible and make certain that a budget is very strictly adhered to.
