As we get closer to the holiday shopping season it could be the case that many Americans do not think about home loan payments as they will be considering Christmas gift ideas and finding the best savings possible. One way to save money this holiday season could be to take advantage of today’s lowest mortgage interest rates as 30 year home loan rates are around 4.35%.
Unfortunately, many Americans have seen their credit score drop over the last several months which is caused great struggles when it comes to locking in low interest rates on a credit card, personal loan, car loan or home loan. Over the last few weeks it has also been the case that the 10 year treasury rate yield has moved higher which in turn has caused 30 year fixed rates to move up.
The 10 year treasury rate yield his move from 2.5% to as high as 2.9% over the last few weeks which in turn has moved the 30 year fixed rate from 4% on the way up to 4.35%. Even though 30 year fixed mortgage rates have moved up and is still the case that they are very close to all-time lows and great savings are possible.
When looking at a historical chart of mortgage rates it is quite clear that we have never been this low for an extended period of time. Over the last two years the federal reserve bank has taken the necessary steps to make 100% certain that interest rates stay low and this is likely to happen until the overall economy recovers and growth is seen.
With this being the case there is no reason that American should pass up on the opportunity to take advantage of low interest rates. Even if it is refinancing a home loan or negotiating a lower credit card interest rate they are still ways to save money in the current economic environment.
