As the Christmas holiday shopping season gets closer it is the case that many Americans will likely buy on credit over the next several weeks. Unfortunately, with the unemployment rate above 9% and millions of Americans exhausting their unemployment resources a large number of these people have been looking for a federal government credit card debt relief plan.
It is very important to understand that there is no such thing as a government or Obama credit card debt relief plan, service or program. At the present time the Obama administration is working very hard to make certain that debt relief and debt settlement companies are not advertising that they have this approval.
It is also the case that the Obama administration has worked very hard to enforce rules that do not allow up front fees. Many credit card debt relief companies charged excessive upfront fees for services that were not completed. This cause great strain on customers as they often found that the services were not up to their standards.
With the FTC and federal government working very hard to protect consumers it is now the case that these companies cannot charge upfront fees and they can also not advertise services that they cannot provide. This could help a growing number of Americans when it comes to being confident going into this process.
Even though this is the case it is still a very wise decision to do research and understand what options are available. The FTC has offered many valuable resources that are completely free they can help Americans create a strong budget. By simply creating a spreadsheet with a weekly or monthly budget it could help Americans better understand where their money is going and it could also help them get out of high interest rate debt. Taking advantage of these resources could help many through the Christmas holiday.
