As we get closer and closer to Thanksgiving it is the case that many Americans are not thinking about personal finances when it comes to home loans and other monthly payments. It tends to be the case that many Americans think about holiday shopping rather than managing these finances. With this being the case we can expect very few people to think about today’s lowest mortgage interest rates over the next month.
This could be very unfortunate as refinance 30 year fixed conventional rates are around 4.35% and many homeowners could benefit greatly by reducing their current home loan payment. The general rule of thumb is that homeowners should seek to save at least one full percentage point on a home loan before going through the refinance process.
By saving one full percentage point homeowners will not only see savings in their monthly payments but they will also cover closing costs which can get quite expensive. By not saving one full percentage point it is usually the case that closing costs outweigh the benefits even though mortgage interest rates are very low.
There are many mortgage lenders throughout the country that have offered great assistance when it comes to refinancing to lower overall rates. Currently, the big four banks in America are Bank of America, Chase, Citigroup and Wells Fargo but remember that there are other options at the local and regional level as well.
Completing due diligence and research could prove to be greatly beneficial to many American homeowners looking to save money before the holiday shopping season. With Black Friday just around the corner there is very little doubt that a growing number of people will spend more money over the next few weeks. Rather than having all this money go out it might be wise to have money coming in through home loans savings.
