Over the last week we have seen 30 year fixed mortgage rates move higher from 4% to 4.35% and much of this is due to the fact that the 10 year treasury rate has also moved higher. When looking to compare mortgage interest rates today it may be a wise decision to also check out the overall direction and friend of the 10 year treasury rate yield.
It seems to be the case that the 10 year treasury rate yield hit a short-term bottom around 2.5% and has moved all the way up to 2.9%. This is push conventional 30 year home loan interest rates from 4% all the way up to 4.35%. While this is not very uncommon it is interesting due to the fact that the federal reserve bank is trying to keep interest rates at historic lows.
