Craigslist Furniture and Jewelry Scams – Listings Cause Money Problems for Those Selling on Craigslist

Posted on | September 30, 2010 | No Comments

A growing problem and the United States happens to be Craigslist furniture and jewelry scams. When listing for natural or jewelry on craigslist is commonly the case that many sellers receive a large number of interested buyers. Unfortunately, some of these interested buyers are just looking to scam money out of the seller.

It is commonly the case that a buyer will offer to send a check to a seller in excess of the amount of money for the furniture or jewelry claiming that they will be willing to pay for the shipping of the product. The buyer will then ask the seller to cash the check and send money via Western Union to a specific person who is the alleged shipper.

The checks and up being fraudulent and the money that is sent to Western Union is money out of the sellers pocket which ends up being a loss as most of these buyers have no interest in actually making a purchase of the furniture or jewelry. When selling on Craigslist is always a very good idea to negotiate locally and meet face-to-face with buyers or sellers.
