Today’s lowest FHA mortgage rates are very close to an all-time low as 30 year fixed refinance rates are around 4.4%. It is important to understand that not all homeowners will have the ability to lock into these low rates as it takes a very good credit score an extremely low debt to income ratio. Some of the major banks offering low FHA mortgage rates include Bank of America, Chase, Citi and Wells Fargo.
Before making any final decisions on walking into a low FHA mortgage it is always wise to consider options. There are closing costs involved in the FHA refinance process but there are also costs for insurance. But these insurance costs will not be included in a conventional mortgage so it is sometimes wise to consider other options to save money.
It is also important to recognize that it takes a very good financial history to have any opportunity to lock in to the lowest FHA mortgage rates. With a credit score above 740 and the debt to income ratio below 40% homeowners have the ability to position themselves very well when it comes to locking in to some of the lowest mortgage interest rates in the history of the United States housing market.
