Over the last few days 30 year fixed mortgage rates have bounced off all time lows but rates are still at historically low levels. With this being the case look for many current homeowners look to compare mortgage interest rates today. Refinance 30 year FHA, VA and fixed rates are off all time lows but still low when looking at historical charts.
It is important to remember that it takes a very good credit score and a low debt to income ratio to have any opportunity to lock in to the lowest possible mortgage interest rates. A credit score above 740 and a debt to income ratio under 40% could help many current homeowners lock in to very low mortgage interest rates today.
The general rule of thumb is that homeowners must save at least one full percentage point to save by refinancing. By not saving this full percentage point it may be the case that closing costs outweigh the savings of refinancing. There are many mortgage calculators online to help homeowners better understand how much they could save.
