Posted on | August 31, 2010 | No Comments

With mortgage refinance  Rates at the lowest levels in the history of the United States housing market it comes as no surprise to see many Americans looking to compare mortgage interest rates today. At the present time we are seeing 30 year conventional fixed mortgage rates at 4.25% which is well below the average mortgage rate over the last several years.

Many homeowners stand to benefit greatly by refinancing and the current low interest rate environment and it may be a wise decision to consider this today. Some homeowners have found that they can save hundreds of dollars a month by refinancing the lower mortgage interest rates in September of 2010. It is important to remember that not everyone can lock into the lowest refinance FHA and VA mortgage rates.

It takes a very good credit score, usually about 740 and a significant amount of home equity to have any opportunities to lock in to the lowest mortgage interest rates today. With that being said, the general rule of thumb is that Americans must save at least one full percentage point on their mortgage rate to fully benefit from the refinance process. This percentage point saved will likely outweigh the closing costs.
