Today’s lowest mortgage interest rates aren’t very attractive levels refinance 30 year fixed rates have moved up slightly to 4.35%. On August 23, 2010 we are seeing rates up slightly but there are still great opportunities to save money by refinancing and the current economic environment. With this being the case many Americans will look to refinance in the near future.
Before making any final decisions all homeowners should understand that refinance 30 year fixed rates are at extreme lows but not all homeowners will have the ability to refinance to these low rates. It will take a very impressive credit score, a significant amount of home equity, and a low debt to income ratio to have any opportunities to lock into today’s lowest mortgage interest rates.
Over the last several weeks a significant number of mortgage applications that come in as refinance applications. In fact, almost 80% of applications have been to refinance while a 20% have been for new home sales. This trend is likely to continue as current homeowners are looking to save on their monthly mortgage payments.
