Princeton Professor – Unemployment Benefits Extension Needed Rather than Extending Bush Tax Cuts
Posted on | July 28, 2010 | 4 Comments
Recently, Alan Blinder, professor and co-director of Princeton University’s Center for Economic Policy Studies, stated that extending Bush tax cuts will not create jobs as it will increase the gap between the rich and the poor. This is a statement from Wednesday located on Huffington Post, “”Some have a lot of bang for the buck, and some have very little. The GDP increase per dollar of budgetary cost is in the range of 1.6, 1.7 for things like food stamps and unemployment benefits, and in the range of .35 for extending the Bush tax cuts. We could get some substantial job creation by simply reprogramming the $75 billion that would be saved over the next two years by not extending the upper-bracket Bush tax cuts and spending it instead on unemployment benefits, food stamps, and the like.”
There are many people that are completely against the extension of unemployment benefits while there are others that realize 15 million people looking for 3 million jobs does not take a rocket scientist to realize the issue. Unfortunately, the issue continues to be the deficit and that is not getting any smaller with the Government working hard to keep America out of a double dip recession.
While there is much debate over the Bush tax cuts extension versus the unemployment benefits extension one thing is certain; almost everyone has a very strong opinion. We would like to hear your opinion on this issue as it continues to come up each and every day. Please feel free to debate and have very knowledgeable conversation. The Bush Tax cuts Extension not the way to make more jobs.
The problem is more businesses are hiring illegal aliens to take jobs because these businesses are not paying tax withholdings.
Legitimate businesses can not compete because they are complying with withholding taxes. This Tax cut has nothing to do with the underlying problem.
There is NO enforcement of emigration law or the protection of jobs for US citizens.
Either take the with holding tax off of all business and add it to sales tax. Or give some bite to laws and enforcement to immigration laws to give jobs to citizens.
Until then take the money and give it to the unemployed. After all it is these illegitimate businesses who are taking the jobs from American Citizens.
All of the money given to the Unemployed go back to the community and help in economic growth.
Money given to these illegitimate businesses goes to increasing the number of illegals who are here taking jobs stealing identities and milking the system. Money from these businesses go to other countries and not to build our country.

Meredith Whitney threw out a great statistic the other day – small businesses hire over 60% of employees in the United States. If small businesses cannot gain access to lending or money then it could spell doom for those who are unemployed.

This is crap, our Government are lairs and cheaters, they play us for fools!! They say we are broke, they make the tier 1-4 wait for months for a rightly extension. They haven’t approve a justly tier 5 because again they say we are so in debt, then 3 days after extending the unemployment extension they approve a 59 BILLION!!! emergency spending bill, the bulk of which would go to Afghan troop buildup.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtU78drnTX8 This is a joke. What happened to Obama ‘bring the troops home’ promise.!!SIGN MY PETITIONS ‘VOTE OUT THE REPUBLICANS IN NOVEMBER’!!http://humanrights.change.org/petitions/view/vote_out_the_republicans_in_november and Obama must also go!!
