The free annual credit report offered by the government has helped many Americans to check their credit history in in 2010. The credit bureaus of Experian, Equifax and Transunion currently offer a free credit history report for every American at least once a year.
It would be wise to check your free annual credit report to make sure your credit report is free of errors. Many Americans go through life not realizing that their credit report has errors which in turn can cost them a significant amount of money in the long run in the form of higher interest rates.
With the three credit bureaus offering a free credit report there is no reason to pass up on this offer. Please note that at the present time there is not a free credit score that goes along with the free credit report. You will likely need to pay a fee between $15 and $30 to get a credit score.
Over the next several months many Americans will likely borrow money through a car loan, a home loan or a personal loan and it is always best to get the lowest possible interest rate. Take the time and effort to check your credit report to make certain that you are getting the lowest rate for your current financial situation.
