Free Annual Credit Report from Government – Transunion, Equifax, and Experian Credit Analysis and History Report

Posted on | June 22, 2010 | Comments Off

The free annual credit report available from the government has been a hot topic over the last several months as many Americans are looking to check their credit history.  At the present time there is one free credit report each year from TransUnion, Equifax and Experian available at one website – annualcreditreport.com.

It is important to make certain that you used this website because it is the only one that is sponsored by the federal government. It is always wise to check your credit report at least once a year to make certain that they are no errors or inaccuracies. By having errors on your credit report you could be losing a significant amount of money due to higher interest rates.

Please note that there is no free credit score that comes along with this free credit report. To get a credit score you will likely have to pay a fee between $15 and $30. Each of the three credit bureaus has a different analysis when it comes to coming up with a numerical value for your credit history.

No matter which credit bureau you use there will be an analysis available to tell you if you have good credit or bad credit. By having bad credit you could see interest rates as high as 20% on personal loans and credit cards which could end up costing you a significant amount of money over the course of your lifetime.
