Credit Report and Credit Score Dispute and Error Fix – Experian, Equifax and TranUnion Bureaus

Posted on | June 18, 2010 | Comments Off

Many Americans have used the free government annual credit report to check their credit history.  Unfortunately, many of these same customers have seen errors on their Experian, Equifax or Transunion credit report.  It is very important to dispute these charges and make sure to find the information to get the error fixed.

Most credit bureaus will be more than happy to help you dispute these charges as they are looking to get a 100% accurate credit report for each American.  It will likely be the case that you have to contact the company reporting the error on you.  By doing this you will better understand the mistake.

Sometimes borrowers find that it is not truly an error but an unpaid bill that was forgotten years ago.  If borrowers will pay for this unpaid expenses this line of credit will be dropped from a credit report.  Note that it can sometimes be much more difficult than this if you believe it is truly an error.

If you continue to have issues it would be wise to contact the specific credit bureau and write a letter of dispute.  All credit bureaus have a mailing address that is available on their website.  Make sure to take advantage of this as soon as possible.
