High Yield Savings Account – 5% Interest Rates on Checking Account as Small Community Banks Today

Posted on | May 26, 2010 | Comments Off

High yield savings accounts have gained in popularity as Americans are looking for interest rates as high as 5% on checking accounts. Luckily, there are many small community banks throughout the United States that offer high interest rates and some of them even as high as 5%.

By doing research on community banks in your local area you may find that there are very attractive interest-rate offers just around the corner. It is important to note that most local community banks only accept applications from individuals with residency in that specific County or area.

With this in mind it would be wise to start your research as local as possible. Some of these banks will allow applications from neighboring counties but it will be much easier if you contact banks in your specific County and submit an application as soon as possible.

It is also important to understand that most of these high interest rate local checking accounts require certain actions. Some of these actions include using an ATM or debit card at least 10 times a month and having one electronic transfer into the account at least once a month. By doing this you will often receive a high interest rate.
