Government Free Credit Score Part of Financial Reform Bill – Free Annual Credit Report Available Today

The government free credit score that was submitted as an amendment to the financial reform bill will be part of the final financial reform bill at the present time. This free credit score was going to be granted to borrowers who were denied a loan or a job due to their credit score.
If this was the case borrowers could ask for a credit score and receive it free of charge. At the present time this does not exist but there is a free annual credit report available that is sponsored by the federal government. This annual credit report is available at annualcreditreport.com.
Even though there is no government free credit score available at the present time it does not mean that this will not happen in the near future. President Obama and his staff feel that it is necessary for Americans to check their credit score more often than they do. Statistics show that over 65% of Americans have not checked their credit score and at least one year.
With a credit score being the main factor in determining interest rates it is very important for Americans to understand their credit score and how it affects interest rates. Without knowing this information many Americans could be losing out on a significant amount of money.
