Many homeowners are wondering if there will be a move up homebuyer tax credit extension in 2010.  As of now it looks as if the $6500 government tax credit will expire on April 30th, 2010 and there will be no extension.  To take full advantage of this tax credit you will need to be under contract by April 30th, 2010.

If you have lived in your current residence for five years or more then there is a good chance that you will qualify for the $6500 move up homebuyer tax credit.  There are many websites that provide great detail on this tax credit but the best information available is at Federalhousingcredit.com.

By contacting your mortgage lender or doing your research online you will likely find many resources to help you better understand this tax credit.  It must be understood that you have to be under contract by April 30th, 2010 or you will not qualify for this $6500.  It would be very smart to take action as soon as possible as the expiration is this Friday.
