High Yield Savings or Checking Account – Interest Rates Above 4% on Green Checking Accounts Today

Posted on | April 26, 2010 | Comments Off

Many Americans looking to invest their money wisely may consider a high yield savings or checking account. At the present time interest rates are above 4% on “green” checking accounts at many local community banks. A “green” checking account usually consists of an account that is paperless and has certain requirements to receive the high yield.

The requirements are usually that you must use an ATM or debit card at least 10 times a month and you must have one electronic transfer into the account. If you can fulfill these requirements then you could receive a very high yield on your checking account.

It is important to understand that these checking accounts are only available at specific backs. You will want to do research on local community banks in your area to see if you have the ability to apply. Most of these community banks will not accept applications from residents who do not live in a specific County or area close to their headquarters.
