The first time home buyer tax credit extension is likely to be a very popular topic in the month of April. On April 30th, 2010 the tax credit of $8000 will expire. With this being the case many Americans will lose the ability to put an extra $8000 check in their bank account.
It will be very interesting to see if Washington considers an extension of the first time home buyer tax credit. If Washington does not extend this tax credit there is a very good chance that we could see a large drop in home prices. Over the last few months we have already seen date that indicates home prices have dropped with the tax credit.
In November the Obama administration decided to extend and expand the first time home buyer tax credit in hopes of helping the overall economy and housing market. Unfortunately there are still many housing markets throughout the country who have not seen a strong recovery or a recovery at all.
With the housing market continuing to struggle we could see Washington decide to extend the tax credit. Over the next few weeks we can expect many major news media outlets to start covering this story. By the middle of April we should know if the first time home buyer tax credit will be extended.
