30 Year Fixed Mortgage Rates – Citi and JP Morgan Chase Interest Rates Today

Posted on | March 29, 2010 | No Comments

The average for the 30 year fixed mortgage rate has moved up drastically in the last few days. At the middle of last week we saw the average 30 year fixed rates around 4.75%. Today we are seeing rates around 5%. Both Citi and J.P. Morgan Chase interest rates are higher today than they were last week.

Almost all mortgage lenders are seeing higher mortgage interest rates as the 10 year treasury rate yielded started to move higher. It is not just Citi and J.P. Morgan Chase who are reporting higher interest rates but it is almost every single mortgage lender in America.

If you have continued to wait and hope that mortgage interest rates are going to go lower you may have missed out on an opportunity. Fortunately, there are still some lenders that are advertising rates around 5%. It would be wise to take action sooner rather than later to try and lock in at these rates.

If you continue to wait and hope that mortgage rates are going to drop you could be looking at the 30 year fixed mortgage rate averaged closer to 6% and 5%. With the 10 year yield heading higher and the conclusion of the Federal Reserve mortgage-backed security purchase program you can expect higher interest rates soon.
