Obama Credit Card Debt Relief Program – Reduce Unwanted Debts Starting Today

Posted on | March 20, 2010 | No Comments

The Obama credit card debt relief program was created to help Americans reduce unwanted debts starting today.  The easiest way to get out of debt it to educate yourself on your rights and problems and take the necessary steps to pay this high interest rate credit cards off as soon as possible.

Luckily there is a great amount of free help available.  The FTC offers many free resources on FTC.gov and it would be a wise decision to access these resources before taking any other steps.  The FTC website might open your eyes to some options when it comes to paying off your credit cards.

The Credit CARD Act of 2010 will also greatly assist you.  On future credit card statements you are going to see how long it will take you to pay off a particular credit card if you make the same payment each and every month.  Hopefully this will inform borrowers that they need to increase the amount of their payments.

The Credit CARD Act also forces credit card companies to give a 45 day notice as to when an interest rate increase is coming.  Hopefully this will keep cardholders aware and they will adjust their spending habits on that particular credit card before the interest rate increases; even better would be to pay that particular credit card off.
