The Federal Government credit card debt relief plan is designed to help American relieve their debt problems as soon as possible. The easiest way to do this is to educate yourself on the issues and take the necessary steps to get out of debt. The FTC has many valuable websites and it would be very smart to do your research on FTC.gov.
When it comes to credit card debt many Americans feel that there is no way out of this problem. Revolving debt keeps tearing them down as every single time they seem to be getting ahead their interest rate is increased and they are paying solely on interest and very little is going towards principal.
Over the next few months the Credit CARD Act will greatly change how people view paying on interest. It will be the case that credit card statements how you just how long it will take to pay off that particular credit card if you only make the minimum payments. Sadly, many credit card borrowers could take several decades to pay their cards off.
With this being the case, hopefully many Americans will open their eyes to the fact that they need to make a payment much bigger than the minimum. If you have a high interest rate and a very high balance then you could find that paying the minimum does very little towards the overall balance of the card.
