Federal Government Credit Card Debt Relief Plan – FTC Web Resources Available

Posted on | March 17, 2010 | No Comments

The Federal Government Credit Card Debt Relief Plan was designed to help Americans alleviate their credit card problems.  The FTC has many great resources on the Internet at the website FTC.gov.  It would be very wise to use these resources so you can better understand what it takes to get out of debt and what rights you have.  This could go a long way towards getting you out of debt quickly.

Recently President Obama signed the Credit CARD Act to help Americans better understand their credit card statements.   It will also give cardholders a 45 day notice as to when their credit card interest rate will be increased.  Hopefully this will open the eyes of some cardholders so they will adjust their spending habits with that card and maybe even pay it off.

While the Credit CARD Act is not necessarily a credit card debt relief plan it is a way that you can relieve yourself of some frustrating credit card debt if you check your credit card statements and take the necessary steps to getting out of debt.  There are many strategies to use but one of the best things you can do is to educate yourself on your current financial situation.

Sadly, there are many Americans who have no idea how many credit cards they have outstanding nor do they know the interest rate on these specific cards.  The first step is accepting that you have a credit card debt problem and addressing that problem by adjusting your spending habits and paying down these lines of credit.
