Obama Credit Card Debt Relief Program – CARD Act Helps Reduce Debt
Posted on | March 13, 2010 | No Comments
The Obama credit card debt relief program was designed to help Americans get out of debt and live a much easier life when it comes to personal finances. The Credit CARD Act was signed into law on February 22nd, 2010 and should also do a lot to help credit cardholders reduce their debt. Ultimately, it is up to that person to reduce their debt as there is no major potion to just make credit card debt disappear.
President Obama and his staff continue to work very hard to make sure Americans understand their rights and options when it comes to debt. The Credit CARD Act will educate Americans even more as credit card companies are going to be forced to put much more information on credit card statements. It will now be the case that credit card statements are much more detailed and will explain how long it could take you to get out of debt.
When you look at your credit card statements in the future you will notice that there is an explanation as to how long it will take to get out of debt if you make the minimum monthly payments. Sadly, this could be a very long time, possibly decades, for some borrowers with high interest rates and high balances. Hopefully this will open their eyes as to what it takes to get out of debt much sooner.
There are many free resources available online to help Americans understand how to get out of debt. It would also be wise for these Americans to look over their credit card statements much more because it could help them to see where they stand with each particular credit card.
