Today’s Highest Bank CD Rates – Compound Interest to Increase Returns

Posted on | February 23, 2010 | No Comments

Today’s highest bank CD rates are around 1.6% to 1.7% for a CD maturing in one year. Even though these returns aren’t amazing you could compound interest to increase your gains. The concept of compounding interest has helped many Americans gain great wealth over the last few decades and you should take advantage of this.

By doing your research you are likely going to find that there are many banks that can offer you attractive interest rates on CDs. Please understand that your options are not limited as there are many banks scattered throughout the country that can offer you some type of investment vehicle that will give you a return.

There are many websites that offer information on almost every bank in America when it comes to CD bank rates but what some of these websites do not offer is rates of local community banks. Some of these local community banks may offer you an interest rate that is very high. In fact, some community banks offer a rate as high as 5% on a checking account.

If you can get an interest rate of 5% on a checking account you will see significant gains over the course of your lifetime. Having 5% compounding yearly will prove to be a very valuable resource as you get older and are looking for extra money.
