Obama Credit Card Debt Relief – New Rules Help Credit Card Customer Today

Posted on | February 23, 2010 | No Comments

The Obama credit card debt relief program is designed to help credit card customers get out of debt easier. The new rules were created to help customers realize just how much money they needed to pay to get their credit cards paid off. On your future credit card bills you will notice this to be the case.

Pres. Obama realized that many people were struggling with credit card debt and he urged credit card companies to put more information on credit card bills. It is now going to be the case that you will see how many months it will take you to pay off your credit card if you make a certain payment each month.

Your credit card bill will also tell you how long it will take you to pay off your credit card if you make the minimum payments. Sadly, this could be 30 or 40 years for some people as minimum payments are going to do nothing but pay the interest. These credit card bills should help people get their finances in gear and help them get out of debt.

Something else that the Obama credit card debt relief plan will do is to allow credit card customers to know when their interest-rate is going to be increased. It used to be the case that many credit card customers had no idea their interest rate was going up. With the new rules credit card companies are going to have to give a 45 day notice of an increase in interest rates.
