Today’s Lowest FHA Mortgage Rates – Interest Rates Moving Higher?

Posted on | February 22, 2010 | No Comments

Today’s lowest FHA mortgage rates are still below 5% but there is a chance that we could see interest rates moving higher. Over the last week we have seen the 10 year treasury rate yield bounce off its 50 day moving average which has caused conventional mortgage rates to move higher.

At the present time the 30 year fixed mortgage rate is currently around 4.95% while the conventional 15 year fixed mortgage rate is around 4.3%. FHA mortgage rates are coming in very close to conventional mortgage rates so look for similar numbers when applying to a FHA mortgage interest rate.

Over the next few weeks we could see some very interesting movements in mortgage interest rates. Many analysts have predicted that mortgage rates are likely to move up starting in the spring of 2010. With the spring just around the corner you can bet that we will start to hear many analysts make even bolder predictions.

No one knows where mortgage rates are going for sure but there are many signs point to higher FHA mortgage rates. The Federal Reserve Bank is going to stop purchasing mortgage backed securities at the end of March which is likely to push mortgage rates up at least one full percentage point.
