First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit Extension – Checks for $8000 or $6500 from the Government

The first time home buyer tax credit extension has helped many home buyers to get the extra money they need to lure them into the housing market. Getting a check for $8000 or $6500 can be a big factor when you have been sitting on the fence when it comes to buying a new home. The government has done everything they can to help the overall housing market so one must wonder if they are going to extend this tax credit once again at the end of April.
For the time being first time home buyers can receive an $8000 tax credit check by making a home purchase before April 30th, 2010. If you have been in your home for more then five years and you are looking to move up then you can receive a tax credit of $6500. It is important to note that these tax credits are going to eventually end and mortgage rates are going to move higher so it might be a wise decision to take action sooner rather than later.
President Obama will give his State of the Union address tonight and one of the topics is going to be tax credits. There is a very good possibility that he will talk about the first time home buyers tax credit and the possibility of an extension. If the housing market does not pick up in the winter months there is a very good chance we could see another extension.
