Credit Counseling and Bad Credit Debt Consolidation – Lower Debt Payments

Posted on | December 16, 2009 | 1 Comment

Going through credit counseling and bad credit debt consolidation are ways that you can lower your overall payments on the amount of money you owe.  When you start this process you are going to find that your payments are not reduced but over the long run you will have many less payments which is turn will save you thousands of dollars.  If you have several credit cards or lines of credit such as loans then you should strongly consider credit counseling or bad credit debt consolidation.

When you consolidation all of your bad credit into one lump sum you are likely to find that the overall interest rate is much lower on this debt.  You might have a few loans or credit cards that have a lower interest rate than the lump sum.  Overall, when looking at all your debt, you will see that your interest rate is lower.  It is hard to realize how much you are saving now but in a few years you will notice your payments start to diminish much quicker.

Please understand that this process is not free.  If you go to credit counseling or through the bad credit debt consolidation process you are going to have to pay some fee.  The fees are usually based on how much service you actually need.  If you have 10 credit cards and over $50,000 in loans then you will probably pay more than someone with 3 credit cards and no loans.  It would be a wise decision to sit down with a calculate and figure out just how much you are going to save versus how much you are going to pay for these services.
