ACORN Census in 2010?

The United States Census is to be free of politics until now! A group with a history of voter fraud will play a huge part in the 2010 census – ACORN. The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now signed as a partner with the U.S. Census Bureau in February 2009. They will help in recruiting 1.4 million temporary workers needed to go door to door to count every person in the United States. The early estimates are that there will be over 306 million people.
The Census Bureau is currently employing 250 national partners including TARGET and the NAACP to help with the hiring process. The most controversial of the partners is ACORN due to the voter registration fraud during the 2008 election. Washington state filed felony charges against many ACORN employees for more than 1700 fradulant registrations. Is this the type of organization that we want assisting in the census?
The U.S. Census is mandated by the Constitution and is used to determine distribution of taxpayer money through grants and appropriations. Every single U.S. household unit must be counted. Does this sound like an activity that we really want ACORN to be involved in? The Census Bureau feels that ACORN will participate in no fraudulent activities. If the past is a predictor of the future, I would have to disagree.
Let’s hope the Obama administration does not get heavily involved in this issue. If there are any discreptancies in the data, it will ultimately be Obama and his adminstration that will take the fall for this even if he has nothing to do with it. He is already directly associated with ACORN so Americans will assume he is to blame for any mistakes.
