How Weblogs and the Internet Will Change the Mortgage Industry

Posted on | January 17, 2009 | 3 Comments

It is amazing how much media has changed.  It used to be print media such as newspapers and magazines, now it is the internet with weblogs.  Everything from politics, work, business and even life are “blogged” on the internet.  With Web 2.0 running full steam ahead, the next industry that will have to adjust is the mortgage industry.  The mortgage industry as a whole has been quite reluctant to provide valuable information on the internet.  It is a song and a dance to actually get a mortgage lender to give any resemblances of a quote through any electronic communication method.

This will be changing very soon as the younger generation just refuses to do things face to face.  If you want to sell me a home, I better get some pictures on flickr and a quote update through facebook.  In fact, if you could go ahead and blog a few articles about the home you are trying to sell me, that would also be helpful.  To solidify the deal, you can keep me updated on the terms and conditions through twitter and write me a wiki on all the fine print.  This is the mindset of the next generation and do not be surprised at all if this is what mortgage lenders are going to have to start doing.
