Obama Refinance Plan – Get a Low Mortgage Interest Rate Today

Posted on | October 22, 2009 | 1 Comment

The Obama refinance plan was created to help low to middle income families to have access to low mortgage interest rates.  The problem that many home owners or future home owners had earlier this year was the fact that they could not access low interest rates.  Banks and lending institutions were not willing to take on the risk of borrowers who may default.

Bad credit borrowers are often blamed for much of the credit crisis along with the banks who made some very bad decisions.  These bad credit borrowers defaulted on their loans which in turn put the financial industry in dire straights.  After these banks saw many of their competitors go under they were not willing to fork over money to these bad credit borrowers.

President Obama saw that this was the case and realized that if it continued that the economy would get even worse.  Part of the Making Home Affordable plan was to urge lenders to actually allow borrowers to borrow money; specifically those wanting to refinance.  After this plan was implemented in March we started to see banks that were willing to allow bad credit borrowers to borrow money.

Now that President Obama stepped in it is up to you to get out there and go through the home refinance process.  The refinance process is not the easiest financial process but all the information that you need is readily available on the Internet or your local library.  Make sure to do the necessary research so you avoid any problems that may come up in the future.

There are many lenders out there who are advertising mortgage rates well under 5%.  If you are a bad credit borrower you should not expect to get an mortgage interest rate this low.  This does not mean that you cannot benefit from refinancing to a lower mortgage rate.  If you can save a full percentage point on your mortgage rate it will be well worth it to refinance.
