Americans Against the Obama Mortgage & Housing Bailout

Posted on | March 16, 2009 | 1 Comment

americans-against-bailoutThe intention of this article is to gain momentum in proving that the mortgage and housing bailout being conducted by the Obama administration is wrong and against American Capitalistic beliefs.  How can any individual who believes in capitalism conclude that bailing out financially irresponsible people is part of our society?  Shouldn’t we let these individuals fail?  If they cannot pay their mortgage, why is it MY fault?  Why do I have to prop up those who are uninformed and uneducated about finances?  Isn’t it their fault that they got into this position?  This sounds like the biggest YOU problem that America has ever faced.

For those of you who made the right financial decisions, I congratulate you!  You did your homework, you actually know the the difference between an ARM and a fixed rate mortgage and you educated yourself about financial markets.  You deserve a pat on the back not a slap in the face.  Why should your tax dollars pay for some one’s mortgage who did none of the homework required to be a homeowner?  There is no justifiable answer to that question.  If this is truly a capitalist society, our government would let these particular companies and individuals fail.  Make the file bankruptcy.  Make them work to get back on their feet after making horrible decisions.

I didn’t work my rear end off to get where I am financially to let someone who has done nothing to advance themselves take my tax money and waste it.  Let’s face it, if they have been irresponsible in the past with excess money, what is going to change now?  If we make them pay a lower mortgage payment and give them extra incentives because of their bad financial decisions, they will continue to make these bad decisions!

If you give a teenager $500 and tell them to spend it wisely, you fully expect and hope they will do so.  If they return to you and say they spent the $500 on one purse and they need $500 more, what are you going to do?  Are you going to continue to fuel the fire by giving them more money?  If your answer is yes, you are doing exactly what the United States government is doing to irresponsible home owners.  LET THEM FAIL!  It was their decision to get a $260,000 mortgage with a $35,000 salary.  That sounds like a YOU problem to me.

So, please, I urge you to make comments and let me know how you feel about the Obama Mortgage and Housing bailout.  I will keep a rough estimate on how many of you are truly for or against this plan.  If we gain momentum and get some good dialogue going, I will do my best to make sure that those in power read your comments.  Until the people speak out, this is going to go on forever.  Do we really want financially irresponsibile people getting bailed out over and over again.  As I have said before, LET THEM FAIL!

i wholeheartedly agree with you that none of the parties in this complete economic debaucle should be made whole in its aftermath.

but the lesser players in this, ie. the subprime borrowers who took on loans they couldn’t possibly pay are the least culpable amongst the many villains.
