FHA Loan Rates September 23 – Today’s Mortgage Rates Unchanged

Posted on | September 23, 2009 | No Comments

FHA loan rates for September 23rd, 2009 are little changed at 5.77%. Today’s mortgage interest rates are likely to remain unchanged until the Federal Reserve Bank makes their decision on interest rates around 2:15 pm. After the decision we will likely see a drastic move one way or the other in FHA loan rates and mortgage interest rates. The benchmark 30 year fixed rate mortgage is currently at 5.02% which is where it has been for pretty much the entire week.

As many of you know, FHA loan rates are generally around .5% and .75% higher than conventional mortgage rates. This can depend greatly on the mortgage lender but for the most part this is the case. Some lenders will give you a FHA loan rate closer to conventional mortgage rates but you will have to search for these lenders. Even with FHA loan rates higher than conventional rates they are still very close to an all time low. The all time low for conventional 30 year rates is 4.78% which is not far from where we are now.

If you have been thinking about refinancing or getting your first FHA mortgage now might be as good of a time as ever. Mortgage interest rates remain near historic lows and mortgage lenders are actually encouraged to lend money to home owners. Do not let this great opportunity pass you up as it may never occur again in your lifetime. Make sure to do your research and become educated to the market before you make the final decision.
