Mortgage Interest Rates December 14 – Rates Mixed Today
Posted on | December 14, 2009 | No Comments
Mortgage interest rates for December 14th, 2009 are mixed early today. Prior to 9:00 am we are seeing the 30 year fixed mortgage rate unchanged at 4.7% while the 15 year mortgage rate is up to 4.27%. The 5/1 ARM is also up to 3.73%. Last week we saw another move up in the 10 year treasury rate yield which cause mortgage rates to move higher, this week should be very interesting when it comes to yields and rates.
The all time low for the 30 year fixed mortgage rate is 4.49% and this was achieved during the last weekend of November. Since that weekend we have seen mortgage rates move almost straight up largely due to the movement of the 10 year yield. A move from 3.2% to 3.53% in the 10 year yield has happened since mortgage rates hit a bottom in November.
Even though we have seen a strong move higher, mortgage interest rates are still very close to all time lows. If you have been considering a mortgage refinance or locking into your first mortgage now is the time to get started. You will want to get your mortgage application in before the first of the year so you avoid the crowd.
