Unemployment Benefits Extension Passes in the Senate, 98-0

The unemployment benefits extension has passed through the Senate on Wednesday evening with a resounding 98-0 vote. Due to the fact that the Senate did not vote on the original House bill only the expanded bill, the House will have to agree on all the amendments. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer made a statement earlier this week that the House would agree to this extension of unemployment benefits.
The new bill will provide 14 weeks of addition unemployment to all states and those states with high unemployment, 8.5% or higher, will see an additional 20 weeks of unemployment. According to the National Employment Law Project approximately 7,000 Americans lose their benefits daily and this has been a very stressful and taxing time for these individuals.
The number of individuals who have lost their benefits has been estimated at 195,000. The outlook for the jobs market continues to look bleak as the jobs report on Friday is expected to show that 175,000 additional jobs were cut in the month of October.

I also have those concerns. At this moment the house is voting. NO problem passing, I hope. The president is supposed to sign it into law tomarrow. So, if there are only 7 weeks left in this year and this bill is only good for 2009, What gives?
