Charlie Gasparino’s The Sellout – Book Review Coming

Posted on | November 16, 2009 | No Comments

Recently Charlie Gasparino released “The Sellout” which explains the rise and fall of the financial markets over the last 30 years.  After reading the introduction and first few chapters I must say that I am greatly impressed.  I do not personally know Charlie nor am I trying to plug his book to increase it’s Amazon.com ranking but I must say this has the makings of a must read.

If you are at all interested in how the mortgage bond/mortgage backed securities market started then this book is for you.  The first chapter explains how Salomon Brothers changed the overall market by packing mortgages together and selling them to investors so banks could get them off their books; it is absolutely amazing to read how this happened.

Throughout the book I will continue to give a review and inform you of some of the things that have happened throughout the history of mortgage backed securities and the derivatives markets.  This has been a very intellectual read and if you would like to challenge your knowledge of the stock market and financial markets I strongly urge you to pick up Charlie Gasparino’s The Sellout.
