Bad Credit Unsecured Personal Loans – Can Credit Unions Help?

Posted on | October 25, 2009 | 1 Comment

Bad credit unsecured personal loans have gotten very popular over the last year because Americans are finding it difficult to make the money they need.  Many borrowers are going to banks and credit unions for assistance.  You might be surprised to find out that many banks and credit unions have expanded their services to even bad credit borrowers who want personal loans.

Over the last two years the average credit score has dropped in America and many borrowers that were once consider prime borrowers are now considered bad credit borrowers.  It is much hard to make ends meet financially today than it was a few years ago.  The value of homes have dropped, investments have plummeted and many Americans are getting paid less if they are getting paid at all.

With all of this building up, Americans need help with money.  It might be to pay bills, it might be for a down payment on a vehicle or it might be just to have the assurance that you can sleep easy at night.  Whatever the case may be Americans are looking for ways to get some extra money in their bank accounts.  Banks and credit unions have noticed this trend and they are now offering these services.

If you are considered a bad credit borrower, a credit score of 650 or below, then it is very unlikely that you are going to get a low interest rate on your bad credit unsecured personal loan.  These same banks and credit unions that have realized the need to offer loans also know that bad credit borrowers are a great risk and could cause them to lose money over the long run.

This does not mean that these companies will not offer you a personal loan.  Many companies out there will offer you a personal loan but you are going to have to pay for your financial mistakes in the past through a high interest rate.  If you truly need the money right now then it is likely that the high interest rate is not going to matter; you just need the money to pay your bills and get to the next day.  Make sure to do your research before signing for any financial commitment especially a personal loan.
