Bad Credit Unsecured Personal Bank Loans – Can Bank of America Help Me?

Posted on | October 23, 2009 | 3 Comments

Bad credit unsecured personal bank loans have gotten very popular during the recession.  Many bad credit borrowers would like to know if Bank of America can help them.  Well, that question can only be answered by Bank of America but you can always broaden your search as well.  Bank of America has many customers that need financial help during the current economic struggle and its likely that can help you.

Bank of America is one of the four major banks in America and they offer pretty much every financial service imaginable.  One of the reasons that they have struggled so much as a business over the last few years is the fact that they have great exposure to the subprime market.  When banks and financial institutions lend to borrowers that have a very high risk of defaulting this is subprime lending.

There was great money to be made in Subprime lending prior to the credit crisis because companies were making money on the fees and expenses that went along with signing these loans.  The problem came when these borrowers did not have the money to make loan payments and they just stop giving the bank any money at all.

When these losses started to build up banks were put in a very bad situation.  If we fast forward to today banks do not want to go through this process again.  They would prefer to lend money to prime borrowers but unfortunately as the economy has worsened so have the credit scores of many Americans.  Now that it is much harder to make ends meet financially more borrowers are considered subprime.

WIth this in mind Bank of America has changed its lending practices.  This does not mean that you cannot get a personal bank loan just because you are considered a subprime borrower.  What it does mean is that you are going to find that the interest rate on your personal bank loan is very high if you are a bad credit borrower.  The only way to lower this interest rate is to increase your credit score.
