Bad Credit Lenders – Will a Low Credit Score Hurt My Interest Rate?
Posted on | October 26, 2009 | No Comments
Bad credit lenders have tightened their lending practices over the last few years because of the credit crisis. It is now very important to improve your credit score to get a low interest rate. There is very little doubt that a low credit score will greatly hurt your interest rate when it comes to any type of loan. If your credit score has stayed exactly the same as it was two years ago you are actually going to find that you are getting higher interest rates now.
Unfortunately, many bad lenders have seen their competitors go out of business and they are going to do what it takes to not let that happen to them. This does not mean that they are not going to lend you money but what it does mean is that you are going to find it much harder to get the low interest rates you saw several years ago.
It seemed not that long ago that many credit card companies would over 12 to 18 months of 0% apr on a credit card. Not only is it tough to find those deals anymore it is nearly impossible. If you do find one of those deals what you are going to find out when you apply is that only the best borrowers are going to actually qualify for this offer.
The same reigns true when it comes to the personal loan industry. It used to be the case that you could get a personal loan if you had a signature and a beating heart. That is no longer the case as it has gotten progressively harder to qualify for a personal loan; especially a personal loan with a low or reasonable interest rate.
With this in mind it is extremely important that you do everything you can to help your credit score. Make sure all those bills are paid on time. Make sure you are doing everything you can to pay down the high interest credit cards. Most importantly, make sure that your mortgage payment is being made in full and on time. If you are missing payments and letting debt build you are going to find that your personal finances are going to get extremely difficult in the near future.
